The top 5 most disrespectful dunks of all-time
There are few things in professional sports more exciting then a jaw-dropping dunk. Here at FYVFY, we’ve put together a list of the most disrespectful dunks of all time – dunks you know you’ll have to watch over and over again to believe. Take a look and let us know if we left out any dunks you’d have included on your “most disrespectful” list.
5. Michael Jordan over Dikembe Mutombo
This isn’t the best dunk you’ll ever see, but it ranks #5 on our “Most Disrespectful Dunks” list because of Michael Jordan’s post-dunk reaction. Mutombo had challenged MJ earlier in the season claiming that MJ had never dunked on him. MJ took the slight personally, and followed up on it later that year by dunking right over Dikembe. The disrespect came following the dunk, when MJ hit Mutombo with his own signature finger wag.
4. Scottie Pippen over Patrick Ewing
It’s no surprise that the first two dunks on our list include two slams from one of the greatest dynasties in sports history – the mid 90’s Chicago Bulls. Dunking on an average joe at your local gym is one thing, but dunking on a hall of famer and then stepping over him as Pippen did to Patrick Ewing? If the dunk itself wasn’t disrespectful enough, how about Scottie’s stepover?
3. DeAndre Jordan over Brandon Knight
While the “Lob City” era Los Angeles Clippers never won a championship, they’ll surely be remembered for all the high-flying rim-wrecking dunks they pulled off as they created highlight reels across the league. The most notable dunk of the era came when DeAndre Jordan caught an alley-oop while in mid-air and dunked over Brandon Knight, who picked the wrong time to try and play defense. We’re guessing that Brandon Knight wishes he would have had a different viewpoint to watch this incredible slam.
2. LeBron James over Jason Terry
LeBron James, whether you love him or hate him, is one of the greatest basketball players to have ever played in the NBA, so you knew he’d find a way onto our most disrespectful dunks list. LeBron and JET had a history dating back to the 2011 NBA finals when Terry and the Mavericks defeated LeBron’s Heat in six games. Terry did his fair share of trash-talking during that series, which made it extra special for the King to eventually wind up with his own posterization of Terry. LeBron has even gone as far as to say that this is one of the best dunks of his entire career.
1. Vince Carter over Frederic Weis
You simply can’t mention disrespectful dunks without remembering the time Vince Carter jumped completely over a SEVEN-FOOT-TWO-INCH-TALL Frederic Weis in the 2000 Olympics. There really isn’t a lot to be said about this dunk. We’d recommend watching it 10-15 times or however many times it takes for you to fully believe that it actually happened.
